Emergency Vets 24/7 is located at 124 Anderson Street in Manunda, Cairns.
We are the only fully-staffed 24 hour veterinary hospital in far north Queensland. Our vets and nurses are onsite around the clock which means that pets are never left alone in the building. Our vets and nurses are with them all the way, working shifts that change at 7am and 7pm every day of the year.
Did you know that our hospital has never closed? From floods to cyclones, we have continued to operate thanks to our extensive backup power systems and wonderful, dedicated staff. We were open and operational right through cyclone Jasper in 2024 and the ensuing floods.
Emergency Vets 24/7 is proud to provide Cairns pets with reliable and accessible advanced veterinary diagnostic, medical & surgical services and we welcome all pets and their humans.
Our diagnostic laboratory features some of the most extensive facilities in the region. In many cases, we can deliver same-day test results and some results are ready while you wait. That’s fast!
We can report on blood, urine, faeces and tissue sampling faster than most human medical laboratories, and we also use our extensive lab capabilities to run tests for other vet clinics in the area. This means treatment is available faster for the dogs and cats of FNQ.
As you’d expect, our vets have 24/7 access to bedside ultrasound and high resolution digital xrays.
We also have video endoscopy and the only veterinary CT in the far north. Our diagnostic imaging equipment is fully connected so when we need to, we can engage veterinary specialists from all over the world at the click of a button.
When we designed our premises, we really thought of everything. Our facility features everything you’d expect in a vet hospital as well as an isolation room for infectious diseases and a special seizure monitoring ward with inhouse video monitoring.
Our canine hospital kennels are clean, spacious, and stocked with soft bedding so we can look after your dog’s comfort as well as their medical wellbeing. The same goes for our dedicated cat ward, which is located away from dog smells and loud noises because we want our feline patients to recuperate in a calm, quiet environment.
We treat trauma, snake bite and paralysis tick victims as walk-in emergencies and as referrals from other clinics in Cairns. We are able to provide full life support for both dogs and cats including intravenous and inhalational anaesthesia 24 hours a day, as well as mechanical ventilation. We have an incubator crib, cage-side suction and medical grade oxygen available to all cages in our treatment hall, and mobile multiparameter units to capture vitals like ECG, blood oxygen concentration, blood pressure and more.
